Mother/Educator
I believe in the transformative powers of education. A community leader, I’m part of the cabinet team at Tierra Encantada Charter School in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I moved to New Mexico to teach in the bilingual program of the Santa Fe Public Schools in 1999. As a licensed educator, I hold a bachelor’s degrees in Education; a master’s degree in English Language; and I have completed the Ph. courses in Linguistics. My passions include spending time with my family, enjoying the beautiful New Mexico terrain, and exercising.
I strongly believe that coming from another country has helped me not only to understand culture from different lenses but also to become a stronger critical thinker and problem solver. I had to bridge my previous cultural experience from Spain with a very different system. It’s been through perseverance that I was able to do it. I strongly believe that coming from a different country and culture is a positive factor because I can relate with the difficulties in adapting to and being successful in a new culture.
I’m very passionate about education. I have 25 years of experience working in schools as a teacher in elementary, middle and high schools. I helped found InsightEd with the idea of supporting schools to create a unified school culture where faculty follows a self-created vision for their school. I believe in common goals, honest conversations, meaningful feedback and creating paths to support education with attention on the main target, our stars, the students.
